Set up TriNet for automated tests with TrustCloud!

Purpose

Once you set up your compliance program, TrustCloud TrustOps works to ensure that your systems remain compliant with your adopted controls. To do so, TrustCloud retrieves lists of resources against systems in your product and business stack to use for compliance evidence.

This document outlines the steps you can take to grant TrustCloud access to retrieve a list of employees to use as evidence.

Instructions to grant TrustCloud access to retrieve employees from TriNet

Overview

TriNet requires a contract addendum with TriNet authorizing approved access in order to access your organization’s TriNet information via APIs. This process starts with the submission of a TriNet Solution Engineering Intake Form. An addendum will typically be created by TriNet within three business days of submission of the intake form and must be signed by an officer at the director level or above. The necessary access will be delivered within three business days of receipt of the signed addendum.

  1. Complete the TriNet Solution Engineering Intake Form
    1. Select I am a “TriNet Customer”, then click on ‘Next’.
    2. Enter your Customer and Contact information, then click on ‘Next’.
    3. Select “Third-Party Pre-Built Integration”, then click on ‘Next’.
    4. Select “Enterprise”
    5. Select “TrustCloud”
    6. Select “New Setup”, then click on ‘Next’.
    7. Enter information for the Officer authorized to sign addendum for API access, then click on ‘Submit’.
  2. Create a TriNet Developer account and team. This step can be skipped if a developer account and team have already been created for your company within the TriNet Developer site.  Create Developer Account – An account must be requested for each individual who will need access to the API credentials
    1. Sign up for a developer account
    2. Complete email verification
    3. Wait for email confirmation of account activation before attempting to sign in (each developer account must be approved by TriNet Solution Engineering before you can sign in). Accounts are typically approved within one to two business days.
  3. Create a Developer Team. This allows you to directly manage which internal colleagues have access to the API credentials. Members can be added or deleted by the team owner, who must have a developer account with TriNet to access the team.
    1. Sign in at developers.trinet.com
    2. Click on “Teams” from drop-down in upper right-hand corner of screen
    3. Click on “+ NEW TEAM.”
    4. Enter ‘Team Name’ as your organization name
    5. Assign “Members”

      2. Enter member’s email address
      3. Select “Role”
        1. Owner: Full read and write privileges for team members, team details, and apps. Should only be assigned to those authorized to add new members to the developer team
        2. Viewer: Read-only privileges for team members, team details, and apps should be assigned to those who need access to the API credentials but cannot authorize adding new members.
        3. App Admin: Do not use
  4. TriNet Solution Engineering will submit an internal addendum request and notify you via email that it has been submitted.
  5. The addendum must be signed by an officer of the organization. The signatory will receive a DocuSign request once the addendum is generated.
